Delirium

I was done reading Delirium hours ago. I thought of it as a very good book. Seriously, I finished the last 10 chapters of the story in 4 hours! I just didn't expect that that would be the twist in the ending. I feel sorry for Alex. I hope he could've made it for Lena. Well, I have high hopes when I buy the second book: Pandemonium! :D

So what is the story of Delirium about? Well. The book is another dystopian type. It is set in the future in the USA, where love is a disease and it needs to be cured. Love needs to be cured because it is like an epidemic. It is also considered fatal or deadly.

The main character in the story is Lena. She is an 18-year-old girl who viewed the cure for love as a good thing. At first. She has a best friend, Hana, also her age and they are scheduled to have their procedure where they will receive the cure. According to what is told to them by the society, the cure will make you happy. Without love, the world is perfect. No pain, no hurt. You are plain and ordinary.

In Lena's perspective, she is determined to take the procedure. That way, everything will be good for her. But Hana disagrees. She has a different way of thinking about the procedure; she thinks of it negatively. In Lena's defense, the reason why she wants to take the procedure is because she doesn't want to be like her mother. Lena's mother died when she was 6 years old because of the disease [or as she was told], which is why Lena is living with her aunt Carol, Uncle William and her cousins Grace and Jenny.

Evaluations are done before having the procedure. There will be people who will look into your profile and get to know your personality. After which, they will give you a list of approved matches of 4-5 people of your opposite sex and from those choices, you will select whom you think is suitable for you and will serve as your partner for the rest of your life. On the day of Lena's evaluation, it got interrupted by the act of the Invalids (read the book to know what being an Invalid means). At that moment, she saw a boy, Alex.

The rest of the story is focused on what will happen to Alex and Lena, her friendship with Hana, the revelations that she will soon find out, what causes her to change her outlook on so many things and the struggles that she faces along the way.

As the story goes on, it becomes interesting and surprising because of the twists that will happen. Overall, the story of the book is great. A real love story indeed. Nice twist by the author too. I wasn't expecting that in the end. It left me wanting to read the continuation of the book, Pandemonium. I will be reading the book once i buy a copy of it :)

**I wont be giving any spoilers here. Read the book! :D
